This begonia is planted in a Terra Cotta heart that I found in Michigan one summer. I never realized how many heart items I had till I started taking photos...I have them on the fence, in garden stakes, in planters, and in stepping stones. I shared with you the other day the new one that I purchased, so now I guess I have a real theme going.
I love this ground cover........it has the most beautiful silver leaves, and then before the season is done, it just loads itself in these gorgeous purple flowers.......stunning!
I have pink and white astilbe that is finally starting to come into its own. I have a larger plant of it towards the back of the garden, but it hasn't bloomed yet.......can't wait!
Now to the stuff I managed to get done this week..........this was an old bowl I found at GW......the reason I grabbed it was that it was just slightly out of round, and I thought oh how cool......so prim. So it got a coat of black paint, then distressed, and I added the dark tan star. Then I drilled a hole in the top, added a cheesecloth hanger and hung it on my fireplace. I have another one just like this one, so I am hoping to get it listed in my Etsy shop soon.
I was in a very simple mode this week, so everything I did, I didn't want to overdo.....thus this little wood plate, painted black and again the same design star. On this piece I added the burgundy pip berries and it will be available for purchase also.
No matter how I tried, I couldn't get the true colors to come out on this shelf sitter. The sides are painted black, and the top is a deep burgundy red. Shows brighter here. This was done from a design by Susan Burd that she had featured in Create and Decorate. Although I loved hers, I wanted to do something different with mine, so instead of painting the pennies as she did, I decided to do a little mixed media, and added antique buttons, for the flower centers. Love the way it turned out.

Hi jody! That little plate is adorable and so are your flowers! I keep wanting to plant some perenials, just haven't had the time...maybe soon, lol! Hope you're having a great weekend:)

Jody,
ReplyDeleteWe had a few days of rain here on the east coast too...thankfully it's suppose to be behind us. Isn't it amazing how the plants just seemed to have grown so much after it rains. I'll have to take a picture and post of my veggie garden as everything is so much bigger.
Anyway, love the bowl and the out of roundness just adds to the primness. The plate is perfect too..not too much, not too little...just right.
Love your garden too...although I'm not too crazy about groundcovers as they always seem to need to be weeded.

Hi Jody...you reminded me that I SO need to get out in my flower beds. I'm beginning to lose my flowers for all my weeds!
ReplyDeleteLove your shelf sitter and your plate and bowl. Beautiful! ~~Annie
I like the addition of the buttons as the flowers' centers. Happy summer. ~Natalie
ReplyDeleteLove it all!
