A New Item...Well Kind Of

Hey All!

Sure hope you all are having some gorgeous weather today. It is just wonderful here in our little town, and I am headed out in a bit to enjoy it. Before I go though, I wanted to share what I was able to finish up this morning.

What prim gal doesn't love a cover? Toasters, stoves, sinks, switch plates, you name it we want it covered to blend in with our primitive decorating. Well the other day I was in my studio and I pulled down one of these tissue boxes, and was going to paint a primitive scene on it, but nothing was jumping out at me. I know it may sound silly, but most of my pieces speak to me.......telling me what they want to become, and I knew I wasn't going in the right direction. So I got to thinking about how I would want it to look if it were in my home, and then it all started coming together. I painted it black, sanded and antiqued it, and then came downstairs and got on the computer.

I contacted Susie of Yankee Lane Primitives and asked her if she could design a label specifically for my tissue boxes. I knew what I wanted, but she did me one better, and within a half an hour this wonderful lady had it designed and sent to me. Susie, I can't thank you enough, you have done a marvelous job on these. If you are in need of any type of labels, be sure to visit Susie's blog, she has such neat labels for anything you can think of. I am just delighted with how this one turned out.......perfectly prim don't ya think?

So Whatcha Think?

Anyone that loves to dabble in primitive decorating knows....it is all in the details. We are always on the search for that perfect fabric, the right shade of red, or that last decorative touch we can add to shelves and wall gatherings. Well, that brings me to today's post.
I had this ugly gold switch plate cover in my dining room.......I am not real sure what the idea was, but I knew it had to go. It just stood out like a sore thumb, so yesterday I did up this set and I love them! I tried getting pictures of them hung up, but they were boring so I lined them up so you could see the set together.
My pictures have them a little washed out, as they are more of a dark tan then beige. They were first done in black, then the topcoat of tan, and distressed, and antiqued. I think they turned out great!
This second set I just did for the heck of it. I am not sure if they will go in my kitchen or not, but I wanted to try out the red over black to see what I thought. Again they are more a deep red, but my camera was just not going to capture it today.
If anyone has suggestions as to what kind of plates they would like to see, let me know. I have done several in the past that are painted with designs, and though I love them, sometimes we just want something with a little less pattern.
I am going to be busy today trying to finish up a few more projects to share with you later on......and it is a gorgeous day here and the weeds are calling my name after all the rain the past couple days, so hope everyone has a delightful day, and till next time.........Blessings to All

Oh My How Time Flies!

Hey Everyone! I cannot believe it is Wednesday already.....I must be running behind due to the holiday weekend, yea, that works......LOL. I have so enjoyed reading every one's blogs and seeing all the neat projects, family photos, and trips everyone enjoyed. My husband got called into work for the entire weekend, so I spent most of it getting the last of the flowers planted, and just working in the garden. It takes me forever to get everything just the way I want it. I play around with it as much as I do the groupings in my house!

Anyway, ready or not, it is Wednesday, so I wanted to share what I have been working on the past couple days. I found several of these ugly trays at a garage sale, and just knew I could do something with them. So I brought them home and sprayed them with metal primer, and cured them, and then I was ready to paint.

This is a design from Renee Mullins......she does the cutest whimsical designs. Lots and lots of detail in this piece! I have made this one for myself to use this summer, but another will be available as always in my Etsy shop. We love to eat most of our meals outside in summer, if it isn't too hot, and this will work perfectly! I am hoping to get more seasonal designs made up, such as one for fall, winter, and Christmas!

Well now it is time to get busy with dinner.......so I hope you have enjoyed my trash to treasure project for this week. I have so many more I want to get done, but until then.......blessings to all and have a great week!
